The Habs have made the Bruins their bitch this year. The regular season sweep of the Bruins has netted the Habs a free and easy 16 points, which have gone a long way in propelling the Habs to first place in the Eastern Conference. As it stands right now it would be the Habs vs. Bruins in the first round of the playoffs, although that sounds like an enticing match up, I have grown rather tired of Habs vs. Bruin playoff match ups. I am going to have to hope the Bruins miss the playoffs, as nice as it would be for the Habs to have a free pass in the first round, it would be nice to see the Habs to match up against someone different for once in the playoffs. Go Habs, thanks Bruins.

1) Welcome back Joe! Hadn't peered over at your blog in a couple of weeks. Thought you had lost interest in the blogging
2) You have to be excited with your team. They seem to have that intangible that last year's squad was missing. Of course a good regular season is meaningless without playoff success
3) Initially we were dubious about BG's move to trade Huet(for almost nothing) at the deadline. At the time it seemed a bit of a gamble to go with a relative rookie to take a team with Cup aspirations into the playoffs.
4) We felt that keeping Huet was at least good insurance in case Price crashed and burned. So you guys feel Halek can carry the mail if called upon? At the very least having 2 young(low paid) goalies makes the teams salary cap much easier to deal with
Well, for better or worse, it's us Vs the Bears AGAIN....I wish the NHL would dump the conference playoff system and go back to the #1 meets #16 format that served so well until Bettman and his evil cronies kidnapped the league!
As long as the team (and Pricey) keeps focussed, I expect the series to go 5 games (4-1 for the good guys)....Montreal might have to go to 6 games, if the Bears get a lucky OT win. Halte-la, halte-la, les Canadiens s'ont la!!!

Ya, I am sick and tired of the Bruins as well, if I thought that the Habbies would disperse of them in 4 games, I guess I would be good with that, but I am beginning to fear the law of averages, the Bruins are due.
As for the playoff seeding I agree with you there, as nice as it is to see the Capitals in the playoffs, no team from the South East has any business competing for the big prize, especially as a 3rd seed, its madness.
Price looks like the real deal, my biggest worry is the health of Komisarek and Saku.

Exactly Joseph, if you go back to the old #1 vs #16 system, you won't get teams out of the playoffs that should BE there, or in this case, teams who shouldnt be there, playing in April.....Yes Washington is a better team than 82 games ago, but, their record should have put them out if winning a division didnt give you an automatic seed.
